[Pottery painted horse]
Pottery painted horse, North Dynasty, 20.9 cm high, 22 cm long
The horse has four upright feet, a long and thin head, a cage cover, a double belt at the neck, and a flower ornament on the chest, which may symbolize a bell. The saddle is decorated with mud, which is carved with exquisite patterns
Due to the frequent wars in the North, the demand for horses in the North Dynasty was large, and the importance of horses was very high. The shape of the pottery horse has changed on the basis of following the Han Dynasty. The head of the horse is thin and long, the front is slightly pointed, and the saddle and mud barrier pay more attention to decoration. This horse is ingenious in design and has a strong sense of movement, which is a typical representative work of Taoma in this period.
