The Theory of Great Wisdom is a treatise on the Buddhist scripture Great Prajna Sutra, written by the ancient Indian Dragon Tree and translated into Chinese by Kumarashi in the late Qin Dynasty, totaling 100 volumes. This volume is copied from the twenty-eighth article of the fifty-fifth volume. The first part of the volume is broken, and the last title is “Master Huirong, written by the monk An Hongsong”. Dunhuang once unearthed another volume of “On the Great Wisdom”, which copied the thirty-sixth article of the fifty-ninth volume, and also wrote with the title of An Hongsong. The handwriting is the same as that of this volume
From the end of the Han Dynasty to the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the Chinese character script has undergone the evolution from official script to regular script. Beiliang is located in the Western Regions. Compared with the works of the same period in the Central Plains, the fonts in its handed down ink and tablet inscriptions retain more official meanings, and the strokes are steep and unique. It is called “Beiliang style” in the history of calligraphy. This volume is a representative work and is extremely rare.
