Bronze turtle button “Eagle Flying General Seal”

[Bronze Tortoise Button “Eagle General Seal”]

Bronze Tortoise Button “Eagle General Seal”, Eastern Jin Dynasty, printed 2.3 × 2.3 cm, 2.9 cm high
It is made of copper, with tortoise buttons, and the printed text is in Chinese seal characters, white text, which is read from the top right. The seal is thick and heavy, and the two sides of the turtle body are flush, which is different from the seal in the early Wei and Jin dynasties. The carving style of the seal is similar to the seal of the Sixteen Kingdoms and the Southern Dynasties. It should be one of the official seals of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and both belong to the category of urgent decisions
General Yingyang, a military officer, was first seen in the Wei Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms. Wei Shu 28, the chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, said that Wen Qin “turned into the governor of the Lujiang River and General Yingyang”. In the two Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties, there were many such officials, including Guo Qia, Sima Tai, Huan Shixiu and Wang Shu in the Jin Dynasty, and Xu Cheng, Wang Teng and Lv Guang in the Western Qin Dynasty. In the Wei, Jin, Southern Song and Later Wei Dynasties, this official ranked the fifth grade. In the Jin and Southern Dynasties, this officer was a general of the nature of adding and dismissing officials. In the Jin Dynasty, most of the officers were Fang Zhen, who also led the governor, with a higher status. In the Liang Dynasty, this officer was the third of the eight classes, with a lower status.
