Twenty-first year of Jianwu

[Twenty-first-year Dendrobium Jianwu]

Twenty-first-year Dendrobium Jianwu has a total height of 41 cm, a height of 33 cm, a diameter of 33.5 cm, and a diameter of 57.5 cm
The device is divided into two parts: the upper part and the lower part, and the whole body is gilded. The dendrobium has a cover. The center of the cover is decorated with a four-petal leaf pattern, and the outer part is decorated with two broad band patterns. The inner band of the broad band pattern is originally decorated with three birds, which are now missing. The dendrobium body is decorated with wide band patterns around it, and there are symmetrical head rings on both sides. The dendrobium and the bearing plate each have three bear feet and are inlaid with variegated gemstones, most of which have been lost
A line of 62 characters were cast along the lower edge of the Chengpankou:
In the 21st year of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Shujun Western Industry and Technology Co., Ltd., Chengyun, Chengyu, Chengxuan, carved with squatting bear feet, and green and blue Mingui ornaments. Copper bearing screw, with a diameter of two feet and two inches. The copper coating industry, the carving industry, the decoration industry, the manufacturing industry, and the protection workers are Shi Yun, Chang Si, Cheng Yin, rafter patrol, and Ling Shi Yunzhu
In the 21st year of the reign of Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 45), Xigong, a copper manufacturing organization in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, made a measuring instrument with a bearing plate for the emperor — Dendrobium, with carved squatting bears as feet, and green and rose decorations on it. The diameter of the copper bearing plate is two feet and two inches. This piece was specifically made by four craftsmen, namely, the gold and silver coating worker of the copper worker, the carving industry, the smelting industry and the assembly industry, while Shi Yun, the guard guard sent by the superior, and the chief (the chief official of the county) Si, Cheng (the assistant official of the county) Yin, rafter (the assistant official of the county) patrol, and order Shi Yun, all the officers to take charge of the manufacturing. The above painting, carving, carving and making are four types of copper work. Chong, Ye, Kang and Ye are the names of the four craftsmen. They are the makers of the tool. Therefore, the inscription is called “making”. Yun, Si, Xun and Yun are the names of the officials. These four people are the main makers of the instrument, so they are called “masters”
The inscriptions reflect that the industrial officials of Shu County made bronze wares for the emperor at two levels, namely, the main and the manufacturing, and also reflect the system of the fine division of labor in the production of bronze wares at that time as well as the system of “material and name”
Dendrobium is the measuring instrument. The quantity of copper first appeared in the Warring States Period, and most of the artifacts known are those of the Warring States, Qin and Han Dynasties. The upper part of this utensil, formerly known as the lian lian box by some scholars, has lost its original meaning of measuring grain. In fact, this barrel-shaped dendrobium appeared in Xinmang. The Jianwu year of Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty was almost connected with the regime of Wang Mang (two years after the “reform”). From the perspective of the continuity of the development of the implements, it is not surprising that the barrel shaped dendrobium was still used in the 21th year of Jianwu
