[Copper nose button four gods pattern “Xu Zun” print]

Copper nose button four gods pattern “Xu Zun” print, Eastern Han Dynasty, printed 1.6 × 1.6 cm, with a height of 1.8 cm
The bronze nose button is printed with the words “Xu Zun” in parallel white text, which is the name of the owner. There are engraved patterns on the four sides of the printing platform, which are the four gods of Canglong, Baihu, Zhuque and Xuanwu. According to today’s view rule of “up north, down south, left west, right east”, when the seal is stamped, the left and right are exactly the same, and the upper and lower positions are reversed from the current one. In the Han Dynasty, it is positioned according to “left Canglong, right white tiger, front rosefinch, and rear basalt”
There are several patterns of “four gods” found in seals: first, the four gods are distributed on the printed surface, and there are pure patterns, and there are also patterns with text in the middle. Second, the four sides of the printing table are engraved with patterns, that is, printing. The third is that the design is simply the two gods of dragon and tiger or the three gods of dragon, tiger and bird.
