[Scholar’s Li]
Scholar’s Li is 14 cm in height, 18.4 cm in width, 15 cm in caliber and 1.76 kg in weight
Li has a round body, a big belly, three short feet, two ears, a cover, and three rings on the cover. The covers and implements are decorated with square patterns for two weeks, and the ears are decorated with patterns. There are five inscriptions on the edge of the mouth of the vessel:
The Li of a gentleman
means the li used by the gentleman to enjoy
In the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, bronze sacrificial vessels were the most solemn and sacred sacrificial objects. But in the Warring States Period, the status of bronze vessels declined greatly with the “collapse of rites and music” of the whole slavery system, and even became a tool for appreciation and play. The inscription “Li Li of a gentleman” shows this
