The ear cup is made of thick wood with oval mouth, arc wall, flat bottom and square ears. The interior of the vessel is painted with red paint, the ears and the outer wall of the cup are painted with ochre paint, the ear surface is painted with geometric patterns, and the sides of both ends are painted with vortex patterns
This ear cup was unearthed in the Warring States Chu Tomb, No. 15, Fanjiashan, Jiangling, Jingzhou. Its carcass is thick and has the characteristics of the Warring States lacquer ear cup. The body of lacquer ware in the Western Han Dynasty became thinner and lighter, and so did the body of ear cup. The geometric patterns and vortex patterns on the ear cups are the main auxiliary patterns of lacquer decoration from the Warring States Period to the Western Han Dynasty.
