Master Cai’s pot is 40.2 cm high, 29.6 cm wide, and weighs 9.22 kg
This pot has a straight mouth, a long neck, a large beast-shaped collar, two ears, a bulging belly, and a wide side of the ring foot. The lid of the kettle has been lost. The mouth of the pot is decorated with triangular animal face patterns, the neck and the ring foot are decorated with heavy ring patterns, and the two sides of the belly are formed with raised band patterns to form a zigzag grid, and each grid is decorated with flat dragon patterns
The inscription on the bottom of the pot is cast in seven lines and 29 words:
Only at the beginning of the first month
at the noon of the auspicious geng, the son of Cai
made the
pot. Their eyebrows are limitless, and their children and grandchildren will live for ten thousand years
Remember that on the first auspicious day of the first lunar month, the son of the State of Cai made this sacrificial pot to pray for a long life, and his descendants will treasure this pot for a long time.
