Shu You

[Tertiary You]

Tertiary You, 19.3 cm in height, 21.6 cm in width and 2.82 kg in weight
You are an ellipsoid with round corners at the four corners of the square mouth, large belly, round feet, and a cover. The top of the cover is a trumpet-shaped catch. The neck and the cover are cast with through ears on all sides, opposite each other, and the through ears are the places where they are threaded. Both the cover and the neck are decorated with animal face stripes, and the ring foot is decorated with two fine strings
There is an inscription on the inside of the cover and the bottom of the vessel, with 5 lines and 32 characters:
The only king [0098] Zong Zhou
Wang Jiang Shishu sent Yu Tai
to protect him, and rewarded him with Chang, Bai
gold and cow. Shupai Taibao
Xiu is used as a treasure to honor Yi people
The main idea of the inscription is that the king of Zhou performed the “0098” sacrifice in Zongzhou. The Queen’s historiographer uncle was sent as an envoy to Taibao, who rewarded him with wine soaked in vanilla, white bronze, and cattle and animals raised for sacrifice. Uncle made this precious Yi artifact to thank Tai Bao for his kindness
