Tiger halberd Bo

[Tiger halberd Bo]

Tiger halberd Bo, Western Zhou Dynasty, 44.3 cm in height, 27 cm in milling distance, and 16 kg in weight
Bo (Yin Bo) is oval in shape, flat in mouth, and has a semicircle button on the “dance”. The Bo buttons are decorated with cloud patterns, the two sides of the Bo body are decorated with animal face patterns, there are narrow and long lace leaf edges in the center, the upper part of the Bo mouth is decorated with round vortex patterns and petal patterns, and the two sides of the Bo are decorated with two tigers. The image of the four tigers is not realistic but graphic, reflecting the mythical nature of the bronze decoration at that time. This Bo is indeed a very rare material for studying the bronze decoration and ancient plastic arts of the Western Zhou Dynasty
Bo and bell are both percussion instruments, which appeared in the middle of the Western Zhou Dynasty, later than Yongzhong. This Bo is not only uniquely decorated, but also an earlier bronze Bo.
