Sub [0037] Gui has a height of 22.4 cm, a width of 26 cm and a weight of 3.16 kg
Gui is a round body with a cover. There is a round grip in the middle of the cover, and there are two perforations on the top. There is a button on both sides of the grip, which is parallel to the two perforations. It has a deep belly, and there is an animal ear on both sides of the abdomen. The ring foot is relatively short, and it is left-handed. The cover, neck and feet are decorated with animal face patterns composed of Kui patterns, and the front and back sides of the neck are decorated with a relief sacrificial head
The cover and the vessel have a pair of inscriptions, three lines of 16 characters:
Jihai, Wang Cibei,
in the appendix. It is used as the
father has respected Yi. Ya [0037]
According to the inscription, on the day of 1911, the king rewarded the shellfish in Langdi. Therefore, we have made sacrificial vessels for our father. The family name of the tool maker is “Ya [0037]”
This Gui has a common shape and simple decoration, but there are few Gui with covers in the Shang Dynasty. It is said that it was unearthed in Luoyang, Henan Province. Mr. Zhang Naiqi donated
