Jade high crown bird handle, Shang, 13.2 cm high, 3.5 cm wide, 1.4 cm thick
It is made of sapphire with black spots. The whole device is in the shape of a bird, with round eyes and hooked beak. The bird feather pattern and skin pleat pattern are carved on the body by means of double yin and yang lines. The bird wears a high crown on its head, three sections, two ridges on both sides, and two sharp tenons under its legs, which should be inserted on something to make the handle of the implement
In the Shang Dynasty, many handle-shaped implements were unearthed. Because the objects inserted during the archaeological excavation had rotted, it was unknown what the handle was. Most of the handle shaped vessels are simple in shape, and such complex and delicate bird shapes are very rare
