The original celadon appeared in the Shang Dynasty about 3000 years ago, and went through the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Spring and Autumn Period, the Warring States Period, and the Han Dynasty. It was the product of the transition from pottery to porcelain, and was developed from printed hard pottery. Its production method is to use porcelain stone to make the body, apply lime glaze on the surface of the body, and bake it at 1200 ℃. After sintering, the matrix is gray or brown, and there is a vitreous glaze layer on the surface. The water absorption of the matrix is low, and it can make a clear and crisp sound when knocking. The glaze on the original celadon is cyan, which is due to the amount of iron oxide in the glaze. The original celadon was first found in the lower cultural site of Erligang in Zhengzhou, Henan Province and in the tomb of the middle Shang Dynasty in Panlongcheng, Huangpi, Hubei Province. Yin Ruins in Yin Xu in Anyang, Henan, Liuli Pavilion in Huixian, Daxinzhuang in Jinan, Shandong, and Gao in Hebei (g ǎ There are also unearthed in the late Shang Dynasty sites such as Yinnong and Wucheng in Qingjiang, Jiangxi
Compared with the mature porcelain after the Eastern Han Dynasty, the original celadon has the following characteristics: the firing temperature is lower than that of the porcelain, the molding of the utensils is mostly made of clay bar, the shape of the utensils is irregular, the thickness of the matrix is uneven, the glaze layer on the surface is uneven, the glaze layer is thin, and the glaze color is unstable. Although it is essentially different from pottery, it still has a certain degree of originality compared with real porcelain in firing technology, so it is called “primitive celadon”.
