The Zamalu hand drum is called “Zamalu” in Tibet. The drum cavity is made of two skulls. It is bound with a metal waist hoop. Two fingers hold the waist hoop and shake it from side to side. The ball shaped soft hammer tied to the hoop will gently tap the drum face and make sound. It is both a musical instrument and an indispensable tool for practicing the Tantrism. The green leather drum surface of this hand drum is painted with brown paint, which is covered with mottled oily paint. It is attached with five color streamer belt, which is made of brocade and damask. This hand drum is put in a cylindrical box. The white silk fabric attached to the box cover is written in Chinese, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan characters. The Chinese characters say, “Zhang Jia Hu Tu Ke plans to enter the Zha Malu Drum”.
