The Eighteen Sons are composed of eighteen beads, with Buddha head, Buddha head tower and back cloud in the middle. The form of the Eighteen Sons originated from the prayer beads of Buddhism. People in the Ming Dynasty had already put the Eighteen Sons on their chest. The court of the Qing Dynasty worshipped Tibetan Buddhism as the state religion, and the use of it became more popular. Originally, fragrant wood was used as the main material. As time passed, more attention was paid to the effect of decoration. The fragrant wood was decorated with gold beads and rice beads, or precious materials such as spinel and tourmaline were used, or the number of twists and drop angles were increased. The patterns were diversified. The bracelet is composed of eighteen red spinels, emerald Buddha heads, Buddha head towers and pendants.
