  • Description:
It is in the shape of a pomegranate. Its mouth is divided into five branches. It has a short neck, a large round belly, and shallow concave feet. The whole body is covered with powder blue glaze and light brown thin pieces. The sole of the foot is exposed, and the ochre protective glaze is applied. The six character seal script of the blue and white script “made in the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty” has a lovely overall shape. Flower and fruit shaped vases, popular in the Qing Dynasty, are usually displayed together with large vase flowers or bonsai. In Dong Gao’s (1740-1818) painting of Shao Jing Fu Fang, Green Peach Goldfish (hence painting 03320-2), peach blossoms herald spring. There is “more” in the glass jar. The lacquer box is a homophone for “harmony”. Pomegranate means many children. The overall layout is auspicious. This kind of display was popular in the late Ming Dynasty and continued in the Qing Dynasty. With regard to the number of furnishings, Shen Fu, a flower theorist in the early morning (after 1763-1825), expressed himself in “Six Chapters of Floating Life: Leisure Stories”
