- Description:
Eight sided rectangular basin, straight mouth, deep and straight abdomen, with two circular seepage holes at the bottom, six chime shaped feet, showing the white bottom. White glaze is applied inside the vessel, and lemon yellow glaze is covered outside, with fresh color. The underglaze is carved with plum blossom and beauty Yu’s twig flowers, with a circle of Ruyi pattern around the mouth. The seal characters of “Light Year System of the Qing Dynasty” are engraved in the bottom of the vessel, and the glaze surface inside the vessel is mostly marked. According to the original number of the word “bird” in the flowerpot, this vase was originally included in the pot storehouse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was in charge of the royal garden affairs. It was a practical utensil. Similar flowerpots and ornamentation also appeared in the porcelain used by Empress Dowager Cixi during the Guangxu period. The porcelain samples of the “Ti He Dian” style show that the porcelain made by the Empress Dowager was partly taken from the style of the Daoguang period, or can be regarded as a concrete manifestation of the Empress Dowager copying the taste of the previous emperors.
