Rectangular basin, straight wall, flat bottom, thick tire, with two circles of nail marks at the bottom. The patterns of crabapple leaves, radishes and katydids on the outer wall of this narcissus pot present a comfortable pastoral landscape. The patterns are made of ink color hooks. Before color filling, a layer of milky glass white is applied, and then ink color is used to render different shades of gray. The left space is printed in regular script of “Daya Zhai” and the elliptical sea dragon pattern of “Heaven and Earth, One Family, Spring”, and the back is printed in regular script of “Yongqing Changchun”. There are two pairs of similar white ground ink colored flowerpots in the courtyard collection, and there are also “purple ground ink flowered narcissus pots” in other collections (the Senate Collection of Ancient Porcelain 03713). According to research, Empress Dowager Cixi likes purple clothes, which is her favorite color. Since the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, in addition to inheriting the tradition of the Qianlong and Jiaqing periods of the Qing Dynasty, the patterns of pastel porcelain have also become the subject of innovation.
