Giuseppe Castiglione (1688-1766. In the 54th year of Kangxi’s reign (1715), the Portuguese missionary department sent him to Macao and transferred to Guangzhou to go to Beijing. Lang is good at portraits, flowers, birds and animals, focusing on light and shadow effects and three-dimensional sense, and once taught western oil painting and perspective to court painters. In the 31st year of Qianlong’s reign (1766), he died of illness at the age of 78 in Beijing and was buried in the missionary cemetery outside Fuchengmen in Beijing.
