Zhang Zongcang (1686-1756) learned from Huang Ding (1650-1730), a famous scholar of the Loudong School. In the 16th year of Qianlong’s reign (1751), when Emperor Qianlong made his first southern tour, he presented the Sixteen Sceneries of Sutai, which was favored by the emperor and became a court painter. Zhang Zongcang ranks first in the number of paintings recorded in the Collection of Stone Canal Treasures, on which there are many poems written by Emperor Qianlong.
