- Description:
Tibetan works, 18th century. The paper twisted thread is used to weave the big and small pearls into a hat, interspersed with turquoise and gold beads. The hat mouth is wide and deep, and the top is tied with a gold inlaid turquoise hat. The turquoise thin pieces are cut regularly, and the inlay is exquisite. The hat tire is very thick, and only dark red paint can be seen in the leather. In addition, another pearl hat of the same style in our hospital has a hitch inside, which can be fastened to the wearer’s chin. This hat is similar to the one recorded in Tibet Tukao: “… if you are rich, you will wear a pearl hat: it is made of wood, like a bamboo hat, thick inside, with vermilion paint on it, and gold inlaid with turquoise as the top; all around the body are closely decorated with pearls, which are valuable.”
