- Description:
Wang Yuanqi (1642-1715) was a propagandist of the orthodox painting style of the “four kings” in the Qing Dynasty. In the ninth year of Kangxi’s reign (1670), when he was admitted as a scholar, he began to work in the imperial court, which had a profound impact on the court painting style of the Qing Dynasty. Many literary officials learned his landscape style and participated in the compilation of Peiwenzhai Painting Manual. This work is not dated, but is painted on silk, which makes the color setting effect on the screen more transparent. The construction of the mountain range is more complicated, though it quotes the drawing method of Huang Gongwang of the Yuan Dynasty.
