The dark crystal is black, bright and even. It is hollow and flat bottomed, carved like an old trunk of an ancient pine, with branch galls floating and pine scales on its body. There are two lines of cursive inscriptions between the lines: “The pine can be fossil for thousands of years, and this body is worthy of Culai.” The decorative surface of this kind of grass poem is a common style in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.
