The pot has a wide, round and straight mouth, a low, short, round body, a curved, bow shaped handle, a flat bottom and concave feet, and a flat top and round button cover. The whole vessel is covered with tea powder glaze. The glaze surface has many pinholes and brown eyes. The white body is brown yellow along the thin glaze in the handle, while the cover button, cover edge, flow nozzle and pot mouth are ochre brown and brown red along the glaze. The fetal bone is slightly heavy, and the bottom of the tool is engraved with four characters and two lines of seal characters, “made in the year of Yongzheng”. Tea powder glaze is a high-temperature glaze with iron as the color developer. Generally, researchers believe that tea powder glaze or the “factory official glaze” created by Tang Ying during the reign of Emperor Yongzheng when he supervised Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Factory. As recorded in Tang Ying’s Records of Ceramic Formation, “factory official glaze” includes three categories: eel yellow, snake skin green, and yellow spots, and eel yellow is the most commonly used description of tea powder glaze color.
