The rectangular box magnifier is composed of a tortoise shell inlaid metal frame on the front and back of the box. The rectangular mirror can be pushed out from the side, with simple shape and excellent opening and closing design. According to the Work File of the Palace Building Office of the Qing Dynasty, in March of the 18th year of Qianlong’s reign (1753), among the hundreds of cultural relics included “five silver tortoise shell microscopes of square yuan in size”.
