“No Shooting and Caution against Cold” is the ninth picture of “Twelve Forbidden Guards”, with September as the theme. Gao Zong’s poem on the picture was written on September 9, the ninth year of Qianlong’s reign. It was a self-criticism work after climbing the West Mountain near Beijing on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. However, the scene in this picture is not the Xishan Mountain, but the scene of the Yuanmingyuan “Water reflecting Orchid Fragrance”. The hillside and path opposite the high platform are clustered with chrysanthemums. Yu Province’s works (1692-1767 and later) are mainly flowers and birds, and the rocks and trees in the painting may be written by Zhou Kun The series of paintings “Twelve Forbidden Imperial Paintings” takes the Qing Dynasty palace as the scene of the painting, emphasizes the characteristics of the real scene, and combines the emperor’s poems to create a new situation for the palace pavilion painting.
