  Carve the “Nine Elders of Fragrant Hills” with a whole piece of solanum, that is, in the fifth year of Emperor Wuzong’s Huichang of the Tang Dynasty (845), the poet Bai Juyi held a cultural meeting with eight friends over 70 years old in Fragrant Hills of Luoyang. At the bottom is the inscription “Courtesy made by Yang Weizhan, a junior minister in the Xinyou year of Qianlong”, which was carved by Yang Weizhan, a dentist in Guangdong, in the sixth year of Qianlong’s reign. At the same time, the front side of the mountain wall is engraved with the painting of the Nine Old Men in Jianan Xiangshan in December of the sixth year of Qianlong’s reign (1741), which was included in Emperor Gaozong’s Imperial Poems. First Collection. The front side of this piece is carved into towering mountain walls according to the texture of incense materials. The figures are concentrated at the foot of the mountain. The elderly people sit, stand or write on the wall, with different postures. More servants squat and cook with fans. The mountain rocks are cut short with side knives. The rest of the incense materials are taken from the natural situation without chiseling. Stained ivory base. Not only is the material precious, but its carving is simple and refined, and its composition is ingenious. It is an excellent piece of furniture in the Qianlong period. According to the records in the “Huo Ji File”, this piece was added with a brocade box in the 7th year of Qianlong’s reign and was collected by the first class in the Palace of Qianqing.
