British timepiece box inlaid with semi-precious materials, Qing dynasty (1644~1911 C.E.)

This clock box is exquisitely made and has been selected as one of the hundreds of items of Emperor Qianlong of Tibet. The metal body is inlaid with agate with fern grass pattern, the six sides of the body are decorated with polygonal light, and the box cover edge is additionally inlaid with silver gems to form a horizontal mosaic opening and closing point. The three circles facing the viewer are marked with “JAS. Cox London” on the central surface, indicating that the snuff box was produced by James Cox (1723-1800), a master watchmaker in London, England. The “fast” and “slow” on the left and right side of the left surface are shown to make the travel time more accurate. Even a snuff box is equipped with a regulator. It is attached with a small key, which is an accessory for winding.
