Mount Tai, the east mountain, is the first of the five mountains. It is also called “Daizong”. It is located in the north of Tai’an County, Shandong Province. Since ancient times, it has been the place where emperors have been patrolling and worshipping. For example, Qin Shihuang once carved Mount Tai with stones when he toured the east; Another example is the jade album of Zen Buddhism of Song Zhenzong, which was unearthed in Tai’an County. There are numerous scenic spots in Mount Tai, among which ancient pines are particularly popular. This picture of Mount Tai is themed on pine forests in the mountains. Author Li Shizhuo (1687-177O), born in Shenyang, once served as the left deputy imperial envoy. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, he was ordered to handle the ritual vessels in the Confucius Temple on Mount Tai, and completed this picture of Mount Tai on his way home to present it to the Emperor Qianlong. There are also poems written by Qianlong on the painting, describing the origin of the painting. Li Shizhuo is good at using light ink, and can master the change of light and interesting ink color. In the painting, the mountain path twists and turns and goes deep into the clouds. There is a feeling that the mountain is extremely lofty, and the respect for Mount Tai is naturally revealed in the brush and ink.
