Shen Quan (1624-1684 AD) was a native of Huating, Jiangsu (now Shanghai). It has the name of Zhenrui, Yitang, and Chongzhai. Shunzhi Jinshi, an official of the Ministry of Rites, is good at writing poems and learning and practicing. Shen Quan was a beginner of Dong Qichang’s calligraphy, but he was very good at Mi Fu in his later years. He was called into the palace during the Emperor Shengzu’s reign and talked with the emperor about ancient and modern calligraphy.
