Liu Bangben, the Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty, was born in Fengyi (Fengxian County, Jiangsu Province). After he became emperor, he set the capital in Chang’an. Because his father was homesick, he transformed the streets of Chang’an into Fengzhou, and ordered Fengfeng residents to move here to meet the homesickness of the emperor. This painting was painted by Tang Dai (1673-1752 later), Sun Hu (the second half of the 18th century), Ding Guanpeng (1736-1795) and other court painters in the Qianlong period. It depicts the new Fengyi street scene with magnificent halls, clean streets and beautiful colors in a typical style of Qing court painting.
