During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng and Emperor Qianlong, many monochrome glazes were fired, which were imitated from the ancient glaze colors by the imperial kiln supervisors and craftsmen, and then experimented and improved, with countless ingenuity and creativity behind them. Tea powder glaze is one of them. Its formation mechanism is that one layer of green lead glaze is applied to another layer of yellow brown glaze containing iron oxide, and the glaze color formed by overlapping two layers of glaze colors is like tea powder, so it is called. This glaze was popular in the Yongzheng period, but its color was yellowish; In the Qianlong period, the color turned green, and it was widely used in the works of antique bronze ware. This work is imitated from a large bronze basin. It bears three lions’ heads and feet. The belly wall is bulging outside. The cone arches out the lotus petal pattern. Each lotus petal is decorated with red copper glaze. The mouth edge is painted with gold and silver in the shape of Ruyi cloud head. Lotus petals and lion head shaped feet are also decorated with gold dots or gold threads
