Shen Zongjing (1669-1735 AD), with the word “Ke Ting” and the name “Shifeng”, was born in Huating (now Shanghai). Son of Wen Chen Shen Quan. In the 27th year of Kangxi (1688), he was a scholar and was awarded the Imperial Academy as an editor. His official position was the minister of Taipusi, and he was the supervisor of the Four Translation Hall. Refined melody, poetry and books. He is a master of painting and calligraphy. He is a master of landscape painting, Ni and Huang. The strokes are ancient and strong, and the thoughts are lofty. Most of them are ink and wash, and occasionally they are green. Small scenes are preferred. This painting is towering in the mountains, with long pines standing side by side. According to the inscription on the painting, “The longevity is like a pine. Chen Zong respectfully wrote it.” It should be a painting celebrating the emperor’s birthday.
