  • Description:
Chen Shu (1660-1736 AD), female, was born in Xiushui, Zhejiang Province. He was a disciple of Shangyuan and an old man of Nanlou in the evening. He married Qian Lunguang of Haiyan. Later, because his eldest son, Qian Chenqun, was an officer and a dignitary, he was declared a Taishu person. Flowers and birds, plants and insects, landscapes and people are omnipotent. Her landscape painting is based on Wang Meng and Yuan Dynasty. The ink and wash painting method can make Wang Meng’s painting more impressive, but the coloring is more innovative and does not fall into the stereotype of the ancients. For example, this painting uses meticulous brushwork and bright colors to describe the village at the foot of the mountain under the summer steam, luxuriant grass and trees, endless mountains and rivers, and the fishing pills in Yanai, which embellish a peaceful and fascinating mountain scenery. The poetic flavor comes from Tang Geng’s poem of drunken sleep: “The mountain is as quiet as ancient times, and the day is as long as a small year.”
