Yang Dazhang was dedicated to the imperial court during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. This volume records all kinds of ancient urban life. From the right, you can see the quiet suburban countryside. After crossing the moat, you enter Jinling City. There are many people and cars in the city. There are many shops in the city. The peddlers and soldiers, men and women, old and young, shuttle through the noisy well. The whole volume is bright in color, vivid in expression and attitude, and particular in details. According to the author’s appreciation, it was painted in the 56th year of Qianlong (1791 AD). Both the “Picture of the River during the Qingming Festival” collected in the courtyard and the “Picture of the River during the Qingming Festival” are representatives of the long scroll style realistic genre painting.
