Zhang Zhao (1691-1745), a native of Huating (now Songjiang, Shanghai), has the name “Detian”, the name “Jingnan”, and the name “Tianping Jushi”. He is good at poetry and painting, especially at calligraphy. Beginning with Dong Qichang, the calligraphy can be traced back to Yan Zhenqing (709-785) and Mi Fu. It has a vigorous momentum, so it has the reputation of “having the integrity of directors, but not the weakness of directors”.
