- Description:
Low mouth, curved deep wall, short circle foot. White glaze is applied inside and outside. On one side of the surface, ochre ink lake stones and green bamboos are painted. On the other side, the ink inscription reads “The color is close to the chicken tree, and the shadow is deep in the phoenix pond”. Bamboo and stone are outlined by contour lines. The title line is excerpted from Lu Xiang’s five character poem “He Xu Shilang Cong Xiaoyong” in the Tang Dynasty. At the beginning of the poem, the red material “Feng Cai” is painted, and at the end of the poem, “Bin Ran” and “gentleman” are printed. There is no grain inside, and the bottom is made of “Yongzheng year” blue material in Song style. A pair of decorative patterns have been handed down from generation to generation. The decorative patterns are enough to echo the process of the emperor’s order in the ninth year of Emperor Yongzheng’s reign (1731) to burn “most of them are painted with green bamboos, and a few of them are wearing temporary characters, poems, chanting titles, and ground seals”. The printed text “Gentle men” can also echo the decorative motif, conveying the symbolic meaning of green bamboos’ elegance and integrity.
