Chengni inkstone is brown and yellow in color. It is nearly square, with four corners folded, and the edge and ink pool are ribbed. The ink pool is shaped like a crescent moon, and the ink receiving part is slightly concave with use marks. The back of the inkstone is inscribed with the imperial inscription of the Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty, “Point at the Book of Changes, study hard, approve the memorials, be careful about whether to Zang or not, and promote literary works. However, it is always shameful. The Emperor Qianlong applied for the imperial inscription” and the inscription “Langrun”. According to the Xiqing Inkstone Manual, a box of Chengni Zhu Ink Inkstone with the same shape is stored together.
