Dong Bangda (1699-1769 AD), a native of Fuyang, Zhejiang Province, was named Dongshan with the word Fuchun. In the 11th year of Emperor Yongzheng’s reign (1733), he was a scholar and an official in the Ministry of Rites. Dong Qichang is the master of landscape painting. He wins with his simplicity. The West Lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides. It is famous for its beautiful scenery. The scenery in the four seasons was changeable and varied, which not only inspired the creation of countless literati and scholars, but also touched the feelings of many artists in ancient and modern times. This volume is a painting of the scenery of the West Lake. Dong’s official script marked fifty-four scenic spots of the West Lake, which is a faithful work of travel.
