- Description:
When Emperor Qianlong was stationed in Hangzhou during his southern tour, he looked at Guan Xiu’s (832-912) Sixteen Arhats in the West Lake Shengyin Temple, sent the group of Arhats to the palace, re mounted it, examined the order and name, and ordered Ding Guanpeng to copy it and write a praise on it. This painting is one of the axes. In the painting, the Arhat’s eyebrows are long and can be dropped to the ground. When he is sitting, he has to lift them to avoid being entangled. The modeling is very interesting.
