This volume is a new song that Fan Yao (who was active in the middle of the 18th century) led his people in the 16th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong to gather poems from the Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties and compose a hundred songs to welcome Emperor Qianlong to the south; Four sentences for each piece, followed by the dynasty and author of the original sentence. It is believed that a large number of calligraphy and painting works of this kind, which are not regarded as works of art, are brought back to the palace by luggage, but there are few records and it is difficult to check. Fan Yao was a descendant of Fan Zhongyan (989-1052), a famous official of the Song Dynasty. In the seventh year of Yongzheng’s reign (1729), Fan Yao donated 1000 mu of land to continue the “righteous land” system created by Fan Zhongyan. His righteous deeds were awarded since the Yongzheng’s reign. Emperor Qianlong visited Fan’s Bieye in Suzhou for the first time during his southern tour. He named it “Gaoyi Garden” and chanted it repeatedly. It is a must visit place during his southern tour.
