  • Description:
    Elliptical Martin lacquer box (Martin lacquer, namely Vernis Martin, is the imitation Chinese lacquer invented by France in the 18th century). The inner layer is tortoise shell. The lid of the box is painted with men and women resting in the courtyard. There is a small landscape at the bottom. The upper and lower sides of the box are inlaid with carved silver edges. The lid and box are inlaid with silver mouths. The lid is decorated with pink garnet and transparent glass snake patterns. The sides of the box are decorated with pink garnet and transparent glass flowers. According to the stamp on the silver mouth, the box was made in Paris, the tax stamp was in 1767, and the producer’s initials were J.A.D.
