Lang Shining (1688-1766 AD), an Italian, joined the Catholic Jesuit Church as a monk at the age of 19. He once studied western painting and architecture. He came to China at the age of 27 to draw pictures for the internal court and served in the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong dynasties. He is good at drawing people, flowers and birds, especially dogs and horses. Its painting method, in the Chinese tradition, adds the western light and shadow perspective, as well as western painting pigments. Therefore, all the works are colorful and lifelike.
