  • Material: Mineral/ceramic/porcelain
  • Description:
Cucumber shaped pot body, flat bottom, short circle foot. The slanted shoulders are decorated with tubular ears. The whole body is covered with light brown glaze. There is no glaze on the sole edge of the foot. The bottom center is made of three lines of seal characters written in blue and white, “made in the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty”. Like the two previous works, the neck is decorated with a pair of tubular through ears, so it is called the through ear bottle. The shape of the jar originated from bronze ware, and it has often appeared in the firing of ceramics since the Song Dynasty. By the late 16th century, in Zunsheng Bajian (1591), Gao Lian also listed “Shang Guan Ergong Pot” and “Zhou Guan Ergong Pot with large animal face patterns” as “the best imperial kilns”. As far as the influence is concerned, the through ear vase, which has a deep “French ancient” origin, has gradually become the object of competition and collection by connoisseurs and one of the items of imitation burning in official kilns. According to the records of Tang Ying’s “Pottery Chronicle Stele”, this product may be regarded as “Pottery Chronicle Stele” due to its yellow glaze
