Xie Sui, whose birth and death years are unknown, worshipped the imperial court during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. He used to be a painter of enamel. He was in charge of boundary painting in the Painting Academy. He joined Ruyi Museum in the 33rd year of Qianlong’s reign (1768). The Painting of Tribute was painted in four volumes. It depicts the costumes of various countries in the world and various nationalities belonging to the four vassals in China, with Han and Manchu inscriptions on it. This is the third volume, drawing ninety-two ethnic groups from Gansu to Sichuan.
