From the 16th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1751), the emperor ordered the Military Aircraft Department to coordinate and mobilize the central and local governments to draw four large drawings. After the completion of Qianlong’s twentieth year (1761), with the expansion of its territory and the attachment of ethnic minorities, it was added one after another. Each paragraph of the picture is attached with Manchu and Chinese topics, involving issues such as foreign relations and border rule, reflecting Emperor Qianlong’s international diplomacy, trade and national policies.
